LIGHTLY-EDITED MACHINE TRANSLATION OF BIOCHEMICAL JAPANESE LANGUAGE PCTS

This lightly edited product was developed with the aim of providing translations of the really long Japanese Language PCTs that cause so many budgetary problems to clients. If the PCT has not been republished, how else can a client find what is in the document at a reasonable cost?

Now, while lightly-edited machine translations may not always be said to be perfect, they can and do suffice in many cases and at the same time markedly cut down costs.

An example of one of such long patent is WO03/00657 by Daiichi Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. on diamine derivatives useful in the treatment of thrombosis etc.. The page count is some 776 pages (excluding the International Search Report and with no figures).

To illustrate the power of our software we have posted an example of a Rising Sun Lightly-Edited Machine Translation of this long patent on our web site (see below). We have also posted a demonstration copy of a Rising Sun Post-Edited Machine Translation (SUPER-MAT) of this same patent to give clients an indication of the quality that might currently be expected (September 2003). The fee would have been US$2750 for the Lightly-Edited Machine Translation and US$9000 for the Rising Sun SUPER-MAT (the book price is $13968, however Rising Sun applies a discount for long documents). An estimation of the size of this translation is given by the fact that the English word count by word processor is in excess of 130,000 words.

Because of the size of the translation, we have split the patent into more manageable parts, namely, the Body section (excluding examples), the Examples and the Claims.

Such translations have proved very popular and the increase in demand has enabled us to put a great deal of time, effort and money into improving the product.

The fee varies per patent, but is generally $450-$900 for 200 page units of source document costed on a case by case basis, depending on whether the client wants to have any formulae and/or Tables included, whether the client wants rough guides throughout the translation as to which page of the Japanese source text the English translation has come from etc. etc.

Please contact us if you require further details and we will do our best to help.
